Azkals make FIFA.com front page

Even FIFA has taken notice of the Philippine Azkals.

A day before their highly anticipated match against Mongolia, the Philippine football team was featured on the front page of FIFA (fifa.com).

They shared the space with football giants Italy, Germany, France and England.

“Front page of FIFA.COM!!!! UNREAL!!" tweeted team captain Aly Borromeo.

A photo from their 2-0 win over Suzuki Cup defending champion Vietnam was bannered on the FIFA website. An accompanying article discussed how the Azkals, under the wings of new head coach Michael Weiss, plan to go about their pre-qualifier for the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup.

The Azkals make it to FIFA (fifa.com) front page a day before their pre-qualifier vs. Mongolia.

Currently 152nd in the FIFA World Rankings, the Azkals need a cumulative score higher than Mongolia after the home-and-away series to enter the tournament’s group stage.

The first leg of the series will take place at 7p.m. tonight in Bacolod. The second leg will be held in Ulan Bator, Mongolia on March 15.
